Written for Trinity Laban Conservatoire for Music and Dance Junior Departments and first performed on the 9th June 2009 at Laban Theatre by the students with Leo Geyer (music director) and Theo Livesey (choreographer).
2 female dances
1 male dancer
clarinet in Bb | cor anglais | bassoon
The work is inspired by people queuing. Each instrumentalist is paired with a dancer, soloing together, representing one person in a queue. As the piece progresses frustration and impatience builds; and gradually the three individuals begin to lose their personality, they become one frenzied mass. Order turns to chaos, emotions spiralling out of control. Yet before long the fire is extinguished and they return to the queue, and to themselves.
